Synopsis

ATRAPADOS is an exploration into survival by determination, a gripping tale of hope, courage and sanity in an insane world.

As the film opens, a fateful catastrophe disrupts the everyday lives of two strangers, sealing the opposing souls beneath the rubble of a collapsed high-rise apartment building.

What has happened?  Does anyone else survive?  Can they escape?  Will they die?

The victims are a couple who appear to have nothing in common.  Carlos (Julio Torresoto) isa a plumber; he lives to eat, drink and sleep.  Alba (Sonia Vivas) is a highly educated woman, enmeshed in a loveless marriage to a prominent astronomy professor.  Are they already dead?

The soft Alba is repulsed by the coarse, primal Carlos.  She cringes with horror at his vulgar animal behavior as he joyously gourges himself on rats.  She studies philosophy as he obsessively digs a tunnel toward an outside world that may in reality be devastated.  Carlos in turn finds Alba’s own fanatical preoccupation with abstract knowledge and the supernatural ridiculous.  He attacks and humiliates her intellectual purity.

But as the nightmare continues, their strange, isolated, sunless world becomes a home where life goes on.  As the months pass, polarity gives way to magnetism, repulsion turns to passion, disgust to respect, frigidity to warmth, hate to love, fear to hope.  Together Carlos and Alba confront the suffocation of their confinement and strive to transcend the darkness of their entrapment and attain freedom.

“A T R A P A D O S”: THE EXPERIENCE

By sticking to a grueling programs of exercise and diet, actor Julio Torresoto shared in the ordeal of Carlos, the character he portrays in ATRAPADOS.  Weighing in at 200 pounds at the commencement of filming, the actor reduced to a mere 120 pounds by the completion of principal photography a year later.  His co-star, Sonia Vivas, lost 30 pounds for her role in the movies.

Commenting on the experience, Mr. Torresoto remarked, “Walking the fine line between fantasy and reality enabled us to bring a sense of sould and realism to ATRAPADOS that we could not have achieved by using make-up and body costuming”.

PANORAMA PRODUCTIONS announces the completion of ATRAPADOS (TRAPPED), a highly stylized, Spanish language, fantasy feature film.  ATRAPADOS is one of the first legitimate artworks from a new emerging culture that is neither from Latin nor Anglo America.  There are 25 millions Hispanics living in the united States, comprising the fastest-growing minority.
